At the Beginning

Our story starts here...

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful island... many people fought over it, after many years, the winners set up fudge shops and bike rentals for us all to enjoy for years to come.
O.k, so my version of history isn't very accurate. You can read a bit more here.
I have been coming here for 30 years. Michigan has many gorgeous places, but this is my favorite.

Rarely do I buy any souvenirs when we travel, but I couldn't resist this book.
It is the first photography book about the island I have seen that has really interested me. I am fascinated by the photographs, looking at how the island and fashion has changed.

new postcard set!

I was in the middle of writing a different post when the UPS truck showed up with lots of goodies for me (and possibly for you too!)
So, I had to stop everything to share my new postcards with you. I just love them.
There are 5 glossy postcards included in this set, with cute rounded corners. Apparently, I ordered tons, so I am discounting them for a few weeks and you can find them in my shop or on the website. Enjoy!

pretty pebbles

We could have played all afternoon on this beach... searching for treasures But, we had a ferry boat to catch. Since I couldn't stay vacation forever, I'll be posting photos all week to make the parting a little easier. Happy Monday!

We have bikes on our mind around here. Mine is getting some work done on it today. And, after I get it back I will be trying very hard to limit my computer use ( if you need me, my Etsy shop is the best place to leave me a message,) spend some extra time with my kids, and see how many miles I can log in a week on my bike, (probably not many because I'll end up stopping too much to take pictures.)
In the meantime, enjoy the above photos that have left me very inspired.

Today I...
1. watched the sunrise and the moon set
2. saw hummingbirds and deer gathering their breakfast
3. ate horribly
4. looked at old photos and laughed (is there anyone that the 80s were kind to?)
5. wished my neighbors dog didn't bark so much
6. clunked around the house in my favorite new red shoes... because you know I need more red shoes
7. happily discovered tiny cucumbers growing in the garden
8.watched the sunset turn the clouds the most perfect shade pink
9. attempted to clean my desk but soon gave up
10. added these new photos to my shop

Did this week fly by for everyone? I feel like it should still be Tuesday. Oh well, have a lovely weekend!

Poppytalk Handmade

This will cheer up your Monday morning, the new Poppytalk Handmade Market starts today.
I really love this collection, filled with lots of old school/back-to- school charm. I am loving everything from White Elephant Vintage, and Avril Loreti. And, can't wait to see what other treats there are to discover.

sister love

I was feeling rather busy/tired/lazy when I scheduled my latest session, so I just invited them into my yard. (It's nice to have friends who will agree to that). And, with faces as beautiful as these sisters there is no need for any fancy background. Green grass and sunshine is all they need.

fair days...

It wouldn't be summer without a trip to the fair.... Now in my shop, and on the website.

summer nights

Scenes from an August night...The field I wanted to use for pictures was unavailable. So, we watched the sunset on the edge of the parking lot. It was just as pretty from there.

As I turned the page on my calendar last week I was so happy to see how empty August was compared to July. We will fill it up, I am sure. But, it is nice to have some openness. I am trying to get caught up this week, and then figure out where the last of the summer days will take us.
